Meet our School Governors

We are delighted to have such a hard working governing body in our school.  Please read on to find out who they are and what they do for our school.

Ann Hodgson (Chair)

Having lived overseas for many years, Ann returned to Pocklington in 1994. Both her daughters were pupils at the junior school. Ann became a local education authority (LEA) governor at the school in 1999, taking up the reins as chair in 2000, during which time she has seen the school go from strength to strength. One of her highlights was Gervasse Phinn opening the new extended building. Ann was also delighted to have been the chair of governors at the time the school marked its 100 year anniversary in 2008

 Dr Keith Walters

Keith’s career in science has led to him living in several parts of the UK, arriving in Pocklington in 1996. His daughter and son were both pupils at PCJS . Keith teaches at two universities and became a governor at PCJS in 2000. He is in his third term and

has worked mainly in the curriculum area (chairing the committee since 2002) and in personnel. This has given him the chance to witness the dedication and commitment shown by staff at the school and the progress been made over the years. One of the

highlights has been his involvement in the Year 6 health evening which has grown in popularity within PCJS and with other schools in the area.

 Andrew Richardson

Andrew is married with three children, two currently at the school, lives in Pocklington and is in his third year as a governor.

As well as sitting on committees, Andrew likes to help out events and so far has been an auctioneer and played Father Christmas.

 Nigel Fitzhenry

Nigel is married with three children, two currently at the school, lives in Hayton and is in his second year as a governor.

As well as getting to grips with his role as governor, Nigel has so far helped out with Fit for the Future evening and is helping with Governor communications. Up until recently Nigel was marketing and communications manager for Romec, a national facilities management company but has taken voluntary

redundancy and set up as a freelance marketing and communications consultant.

 Rosemary Hutchinson

Rosemary has been a teaching assistant at PCJS for seven years and has been Resource Manager for the past two years, looking after things like the school library. She was elected to the Governing body in 2005 and helps

with staff/governor liaison. Both her sons went to PCJS. The youngest, Richard, is in year 13 at Woldgate College. The eldest, Matthew, is

doing a Masters in Politics at City of Westminster University. In her time at PCJS, Rosemary has taken on a number of

challenges, including a residential at Whitby in the snow, dressing up as Queen Victoria and the ‘Trunchball’ from Matilda. She’s so far resisted the temptation to go caving with Year

 Roy Tippett-Wilson

Roy has lived in Pocklington for 11 years, having moved from Surrey. He is married with two daughters; Ellie, is a pupil at PCJS and Laura, who is at Woldgate College. He has been a governor since 2002 and has special

responsibility for numeracy in the school.

Roy became a governor to get a feel for life on the ‘other side of the fence’ and to give something back to the school. He has also helped out on a number of field trips and other visits. Roy believes parents should visit school, sit in on a lesson or two to find out what life’s like for the staff.
